Ok, so like every other reflexologist and massage therapist on the planet, I always tell my clients to drink plenty of water after their treatment. Some meet this with a knowing smile, some with reluctance and others with a shake of the head and a refusal. All valid points of view and I respect them all. However, (don’t you just love that word?!) after all that kneading, smoothing and pummeling of your muscles, the fluid will be pumping out of the soft tissue and into your circulatory system heading straight for your hardworking kidneys. (This is why you often need to pop to the loo before you leave my treatment room!). You then need to replenish this lost water by………drinking more!
The other issue is that your muscles are often tight and knotty when you come to see me and I will work on them to ease this. Knots constrict circulation and your body will struggle then to remove waste. Massage relaxes the tension and the waste products are released into your system. The kidneys then use all available water to flush this waste through triggering you to pee, so you’ll need to replenish it by…..drinking more!
Remember to drink your 2-2.5 litres of water a day and ensure that you’re passing clear wee – a great sign that you are well hydrated. Oh and another thought, your skin is the largest organ in your body and some of it covers your face so to help your face look good, what can you do? Yes, you’ve guessed it…..drink more!
Enjoy your water 🙂
